1994: Humble Beginnings
Steve Pollock founded Stapling and Nailing Supplies out of his garage, inspired by his father’s career in the fastening industry. With just a Ford Mondeo and a deep understanding of marine engineering, Steve set out across Shropshire, Staffordshire, and Cheshire, supplying nails, staples, and expert advice to local businesses. His engineering background allowed him to offer tool servicing alongside sales, quickly earning him a reputation as the region’s go-to repair expert. Known as the “tool whisperer” Steve built a loyal customer base by providing reliable, hands-on solutions within a 30-mile radius of his home.
2011: Embracing the Digital Age
Despite initial scepticism about the internet, Steve recognised the potential of an online presence and launched the business’s first website. However, he quickly realised that “Stapling and Nailing Supplies” was cumbersome to type, leading to a digital rebrand as MyToolkit – short, memorable, and practical. Even in 2011, the business was commonly shortened and referred to as ‘MTK.’ This shift not only modernised the brand but also made it easier for customers to find and connect with the company online, setting the stage for future growth.
2016: Growth and Expansion
As demand surged, MyToolkit outgrew its original space and relocated to a larger warehouse and office in Stoke-on-Trent. To keep up with increasing orders and customer inquiries, Steve expanded the team, hiring a sales representative and an apprentice. Around this time, his partner, Sian, also joined the business as an online marketing specialist. With Sian’s expertise, the website flourished, featuring informative tool videos, helpful tips, and jargon-free explanations; making it easier than ever for customers to choose the right products with confidence.
2022: A New Era Begins
After nearly three decades at the helm, Steve retired, passing the business on to two experienced entrepreneurs who had already built a strong reputation running Delta Balustrades Ltd. Under new leadership, the company moved to Sandbach, just off junction 17 of the M6, positioning itself for further growth. Despite the transition, the commitment to quality products, expert advice, and outstanding customer service remained at the heart of the business, ensuring MyToolkit continued to thrive.
2023: Expanding Expertise
With extensive knowledge in collated fasteners, MyToolkit seized a new opportunity, acquiring Armac Products and Vertabond Adhesives. This strategic move broadened the company’s consumable portfolio, allowing it to offer an even more comprehensive range of fastening solutions. Whether it was nails, staples, or adhesives, MyToolkit continued to innovate and expand, ensuring customers had access to the best products for their needs.
Now: MTK Group – A Unified Vision
As the business evolved, so did its identity. To reflect its expanded offerings and increasingly professional approach, MyToolkit rebranded as MTK Group. This transformation was the result of a deep exploration into our values and purpose, solidifying our commitment to delivering expert guidance and practical solutions. Encompassing MyToolkit, Armac, and Vertabond, MTK Group presents a unified, forward-thinking brand. Still operating from its headquarters in Sandbach, we continue to simplify fasteners through expertise, ensuring customers receive top-tier products, trusted knowledge, and most importantly, an outstandingly personable service every step of the way.
